With more than 25 years of experience in the government and non-profit sectors, Cathy Allen has been an integral part of hundreds of work teams. Cathy has a keen interest in using time and tax dollars productively and therefore began a comprehensive study of those processes and systems that produced results quickly, and were implemented with minimal delays and expense. What she found was that effective groups and project teams have certain identifiable aspects in common: a commitment to developing and maintaining a shared vision among an inclusive group of participants; processes that foster creative thinking and provide safe opportunities for group members to explore innovative ideas; and, a determination to work through agreements in detail at the beginning of projects, rather than 'papering over' differences along the way.

Creative Option C, LLC is an organizational consulting firm owned and operated by Cathy Allen since 2003. Cathy’s work is based on the premise that by taking care to draw on the contributions of all members of a group, decisions can be reached which serve the interests of everyone concerned. Creativity is unleashed when groups and individuals listen to each other, value unique perspectives, create a condition of safety for honest information sharing, and seek commonality of interest. When groups and individuals commit to conducting business in this manner, they can avoid making the trade-offs that lead to unnecessary dissatisfaction.

Values. Creative Option C and its subcontractors operate by a series of unshakable principles.

Collaboration. A system of working wherein partnerships are developed, relationships are valued, information is shared, and everyone agrees to participate equally.
Consensus. Group agreement that is developed through commitment to a specific set of decision-making procedures involving everyone with a stake in the outcome.
Customer Service. Putting the needs of the customer first in all decisions and actions. Customers define their own needs and participate in problem-solving and planning.
