Original Articles

In the course of my nearly 25 years in politics, government, and issue advocacy I have benefited tremendously from kind and careful mentoring of people who were skilled in various aspects of public work. Some of this is related to doing issue campaigns—how to target efforts or choose from the various methods of voter contact. Other skills—such as fundraising or generating media coverage—have more general application. I have written this series of articles as a way of capturing what I have learned over the years. *Unless otherwise noted, all documents are in PDF format and require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to open, view and print.

Cathy's Reading List

I devour books on organizational development, leadership, business principles, personal effectiveness. After reading, I type up my notes, considering how each idea might be applied by my clients. Yet, I have often found that key learnings are too quickly gone from memory. That's why I started compiling these two-page synopses for my own use. With the encouragement of friends and colleagues, I offer my notes now through the Creative Option C website so that others may gain insight from my favorite authors and perhaps be inspired to read the entire work. *Unless otherwise noted, all documents are in PDF format and require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to open, view and print.
